About Dayna Lim

I grew up in Singapore, where I earned my Master’s degree from the National University of Singapore and London School of Economics. I moved to Hong Kong in 2000 and served on the governing board of English Schools Foundation for 6 years and also managed an early intervention training centre for special children.

My child was diagnosed to be on the Autism spectrum, with pervasive developmental disorders (PDD), in 2006 when he was 2 years old.

I spent an enormous amount of time and effort searching for the right answers to Autism right after the diagnosis, skipping the denial phase, because I knew I was racing against time for my son.

I became very hands-on with the home program run by his therapists, based on the Individualized Education Program (IEP) set, along with focusing on independence skills at different stages of his progress.

Due to the limited services offered in Hong Kong, I sought help locally and internationally to create a unique program that catered to my child’s specific needs at both his home and school environments.

The journey with my son over the past 15 years has been an eye-opening experience, and brought about a wealth of knowledge. I’ve seen the lack of services in Asia, compared to other parts of the world. It doesn’t have to be that way.

I strive to make a difference and provide a positive catalyst to the special needs community, and to help parents raise a happy child on the spectrum leading a quality meaningful life.

"I have no reservation to recommend Dayna’s services to anyone, especially if your child is on the autism spectrum."

Dayna was referred to me by a close friend. My youngest daughter had some processing delay when she was younger. She also had confidence and peer pressure issues. Dayna was a co-owner of an ABA training center back then. She was very hands on with my daughter’s IEP and training interventions.

My girl has improved a lot since she started training under Dayna’s guidance. She is now a confident and cheerful girl and enjoys her time at school with her peers.

Dayna not only zoomed in on my girl’s academic needs, but also closely advised me on how to communicate with her better and do more role play together with the rest of her siblings.

There are many different aspects, and Dayna’s approach is unique. She forms her own methodology since she has first-hand experience as a mum, and also with her vast knowledge on SEN –  especially so in Autism, combining the different forms of interventions.

I am thankful that I met Dayna early and adopted her advice and help which have benefitted my daughter positively in her growth and development.

I have no reservation to recommend Dayna’s services to anyone, especially if your child is on the autism spectrum. Her guidance with her mindset will assist you and your child toward a brighter future!

"I highly recommend talking to Dayna if you are navigating the journey of raising a child on the spectrum."

Dayna provides a service like no other. She is my mentor who has guided and assisted me to join this meaningful special community field. She was an important resource when I was setting up my centre.

As an ABA practitioner (Applied Behaviour Analysis), I interact with lots of families navigating their journey on special needs education. These families range from being completely lost, not knowing where to start, to being inundated with information obtained and thrown at them from all directions.

Through consultations, Dayna helps these families navigate their journey. She provides them with valuable insight based on extensive research, her many roles in this field, and her personal experience. She is a treasure trove of information on all things Autism-related, and will present tailored and organised information based on each family’s needs.

We have collaborated and helped our clients to better prepare their child to excel further.

I highly recommend talking to Dayna if you are navigating the journey of raising a child on the spectrum.

"Dayna is definitely the right person to go to for parents who need help in navigation within the special education needs field."

I first got acquainted with Dayna about 12 years ago when both our sons were attending a special school- ESF Jockey Club Sarah Roe school. Dayna was on the school council back then and she has presented an insightful proposal to start an accelerated program in the school.

Her proposal was to integrate the higher functioning children to bridge up their gap with the mainstream curriculum along with both social and independence skills. Offering these special children a chance to be back to mainstream school. Despite being in a special schools, the higher functioning children and parents should be offered a chance to strive to cross the hurdle over.

Integrations with other ESF schools for all kinds of different programs starts very effectively with Dayna gear running it along with the enormous support from the school. Dayna volunteered at the school twice to thrice a week and was working with my child.

My son’s academic knowledge improved by leaps and bounds within weeks. He was able to do English and Math worksheets independently. In less than a year and a half, my son was transferred to Kowloon Junior school learning support accessing to a bulk of mainstream curriculums.

I am very grateful and thankful to the dedication and creativity on how Dayna have made this possible. The following year, Dayna’s child was also transferred out to another ESF mainstream school with Individual needs.

I have witnessed and respect how the strong positive mindset along with sturdy knowledge on special education strategy she have, Dayna raised a promising talented fine young man on the spectrum.

Dayna is definitely the right person to go to for parents who need help in navigation within the special education needs field.

"I am most supportive and have no reservation to recommend Dayna’s consulting services to any parents."

My eldest son Linus had behaviour issues from a very young age. He was never formally diagnosed, as a major part of him is very neurotypical. Dayna is always able to calm Linus and engage him to focus and stay on task.

Dayna has been an important role in the education and independent development journey of both my boys, especially so for Linus. Dayna has provided extensive help in the navigation for suitable schools and out of school support and training for my kids. She relentlessly cares and advises us professionally by analyzing my child’s strengths and areas to work on.

Linus has transformed from being a child that I worry about, to becoming a sociable, motivated and independent teenager.

Dayna introduced a system for my wife and I to work on with the boys to help reinforcing and staying on task. This is doing great as now we didn’t really struggle much on handling and motivating our teenagers to be responsible young adults.

I think early intervention is very important, but it is inevitable that at every stage of a child’s growth, they and us would meet different challenges. And Dayna has been able to help us smoothly transition through all of these periods so far.

I am most supportive and have no reservation to recommend Dayna’s consulting services to any parents. She is deeply appreciated and respected in my household and among our common peers for the work she has done.

"I have no reservation to share my positive experiences with engaging Dayna’s services and expertise which is niche and rare in the SEN community."

I was referred to Dayna for help about 10 years ago when she was running an ABA base training center.

Both my son and daughter were having some learning difficulties. I couldn’t find the appropriate diagnosis and help. Dayna observed my child and suggested they might be dyslexia and ADHD and refer me to a proper center to get a diagnosis done. The diagnosis synchronized and I started interventions under Dayna’s navigation guidance.

Dayna advised me all these years on how to plan my interventions with both my children. She also worked on the well-being of my kids to enhance their motivation to learn and positive thinking.

Dayna is currently helping my daughter to overcome her puberty identity issues both at school and socially. I am seeing very positive result as Dayna completes the linkage on the work of both the Psychiatrist, Psychologist and counsellor at school.

My daughter is now a happier teenager and more able to express her anger without antagonizing others as much. Dayna is such a positive influencer on her usage of her words as she has her method to get to the children. Dayna is also providing the family a great deal of valuable advice on handling a sensitive teenager.

I have no reservation to share my positive experiences with engaging Dayna’s services and expertise which is niche and rare in the SEN community. Not only does she offer hope but she helped us to help our child to be motivated to learn and work out a plausible future.

Thank you Dayna. You’re a gem in this special community!

"What struck me the most was her unique and detail-oriented approach to handling children on the spectrum."

I met Dayna about 4 months before my son Aristo was about to start Year 1 at an established mainstream school with a learning support centre. What struck me the most was her unique and detail-oriented approach to handling children on the spectrum.

The first thing she told me was to focus on the academics which was the only time anyone brought up the idea that ASD children were capable of learning like their mainstream peers. Prior to that it was always about managing behaviour and having relatively easy standards for academic achievements.

Dayna told me to find a tutor that was well-versed in ESF PYP curriculum. I did this against the advice of my son’s therapists who said that we should focus more on his emotional well-being. Thus he combined intensive tutoring with ABA, OT and speech therapies to relatively good results.

I wished I had taken Dayna's advice 1 year earlier it would have made a world of difference.

I can attest that this is a good method. This is because when Aristo was appraised by other mainstream schools they mentioned that he already had a lot of basic foundation knowledge that would enable him to succeed in a mainstream classroom in the near future.

There are a lot more details that are impossible to be written on a testimonial. Please ask Dayna for my contact information, I’d be happy to provide more details.
